FACIAL AND NECK THREAD LIFTING

We all try to impress those around us. With our clothes, hair and a fresh-looking face. It is the face in particular that instantly catches the eye and elicits likeability. It reflects our vital energy and outlook on life. We want to make a good impact immediately, because first impressions count.

Nature has bestowed great beauty on some, a little less on others. Some show signs that they are getting older, others have survived trauma or injury. All this is visible on the face and neck. That is thread lifting comes in. It can correct a lot of cosmetic deficiencies or alleviate the consequences of the loss of elasticity in the face, sagging skin and sagging cheeks and neck. This was previously the realm of surgical facelifts.

Thread lifting of the face and neck is a new, evolving method, an intermediate stage between effective non-invasive facial rejuvenation and surgery. This process provides permanent and progressive rejuvenation of the tissues of the face and neck. The thread lift procedure makes visible changes, usually raising the face a few millimetres. It creates a more natural and subtler end result than facelift surgery.

Cosmetic thread lift procedures can restore a moderate degree of reduced skin firmness. However, for facial skin that is sagging more heavily, surgery is the only possible restorative solution.

HOW IS THREAD LIFTING CARRIED OUT?

  1. 1. Anaesthesia
The injection sites are disinfected before the threads are inserted. An anaesthetic, usually local, is administered.

  2. 2. Creation of insertion points
This is not a real incision. These are just insertion points for the threads. They are created by "punching" with a special needle. They usually disappear after a few days.

  3. 3. Thread insertion
Once the local anaesthesia takes effect, the threads are inserted under the skin using an inserter. Thread insertion is usually pain-free.

  4. 4. Results
The results of a thread lift emerge after any mild swelling or bruising subsides. The lines around the lift site are smooth and better defined. The patient’s rejuvenated look is accentuated.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER A THREAD LIFT?

When the threads are in place, there is a gradual, visible improvement in the contouring and firmness of the skin. The body is programmed to heal the tissue after the threads have been inserted. The threads are so thin and the sites of implantation under the skin are so small that most patients do not feel anything during the procedure. Therefore, for the vast majority of clients, a thread lift is preferable to surgery. Especially when we consider how short a lift procedure takes to heal. General anaesthesia is required for surgical lifting, healing takes 1-2 weeks, and constant medical supervision is required for 1-3 days after the procedure.

After a thread lift, most clients go back to work the next day. Seldom do they need strong painkillers. There is almost no risk of major bruising, bleeding or scarring. Irritation or infection is very rare.

After the procedure, care must be taken to wash and clean the face gently for at least a week. Do not press your face or lie on it while you sleep.

WHAT IF THERE ARE COMPLICATIONS?

If any complications do arise, everything can be returned to its original state by simply removing the threads.

IS A THREAD LIFT RIGHT FOR ME?

A thread lift is best for patients who have mild to moderate symptoms of skin weakness. The ideal time for thread lifting is usually after the age of 35 and up to 50 to 52. After about 55 years of age, surgical lifting is more effective. However, thread lifting remains an alternative for the elderly who cannot undergo facelift surgery.

Because of its short recovery time, a thread lift is ideal for busy people with a demanding career, or for those who have children at home who require their constant care.

HOW PERMANENT ARE THE RESULTS OF A THREAD LIFT?

The results of a thread lift last for approximately 1-3 years. Although the outcome may seem short-lived, what makes thread lifting an appealing alternative is its other benefits, as well as the fact that the effects of a lift can be extended by repeatedly implanting new threads.

CONTRAINDICATIONS OF THREAD LIFTING

A thread lift is a very sparing intervention in the body with a very low level of risk. However, even though it is a minimally invasive method, there are several absolute and relative contraindications. Nevertheless, confronted by the diseases and conditions listed below, we have the professional expertise to medically assess whether a client's condition is suited to the thread method, and only then do we proceed to rejuvenation.

PRICE OF THREAD LIFTING

Thread lifting is individually priced after a consultation. The price depends on the area to be treated and on the type and number of threads.
