TATTOO ASSESSMENT AND RECOMMENDED TREATMENT

After a personal consultation, the scope, type and depth of the tattoo will be assessed. We will then recommend a number of treatments and intervals between treatments.

WHAT IS THE PRINCIPLE BEHIND THE PICO LASER?

The laser produces short flashes (pulses) that pass through the top layer of the skin without breaking it. Light, varying in wavelength, is absorbed by the tattoo pigment. It is then broken down into small particles that are removed by the immune system, sometimes with the sloughed-off outer layer of the skin.

WHAT IS THE POST-TREATMENT HEALING PROCESS LIKE?

The treatment is associated with a mild burning sensation, which is alleviated by cooling the skin. Anaesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes before each treatment.

After the treatment, there is slight swelling and redness, and with deep tattoos, there may sometimes even be crusting, which flakes off in a few days.

After the procedure, the skin needs to be treated in accordance with the doctor’s recommendations. The tattoo gradually fades over the course of the individual treatments until it disappears altogether.

CAN THE PROCEDURE BE REPEATED? HOW MANY TIMES?

The procedure is quick and can be repeated, although the effect of tattoo removal is immediate. The number of repetitions depends on the intensity, depth and extent of the tattoo. Usually, the procedure is carried out 2-4 times at 4-6 week intervals.
